Someone once said -

"There comes a time in your life, when you walk away from all the drama and people who create it. You surround yourself with people who make you laugh. Forget the bad, and focus on the good. Love the people who treat you right and pray for the people who don't. Life is too short to be anything but happy. Falling down is a part of life, getting back up is living." Amen

Help.... Relief for a Heat Wave Try a Cool Drink!

So the heat is turned up here!!! Hot and a little smokie in the air from all the fires.. :( I am surfing the blogs because it is too hot to go outside, just went out to lunch at our favorite burger place, Mel's Diner in Los Alamitos, then took a drive down through Seal Beach, too hot to get out. :( Now inside and found this cool drink over at While She Sleeps blog and it sounds wonderful:

"Its called a "lime rickey" with Monin sugar free raspberry syrup. Maybe you've seen Monin syrups at the coffee shop. It is awesome to have them at home. For the lime rickey juice a lime into a glass of ice, add a bit of syrup and fill the glass with seltzer. Then give it a stir. I promise you'll like this. It is especially good sipped through a straw."

And this one sounds really "cool"

PEACH FIZZIES
5 large peaches, washed and pits removed (no need to peel)
1 can (6 ounces) frozen limeade concentrate, thawed and undiluted
Ice cubs
1 can (12 ounces) lemon-lime carbonated soda, chilled
Slice peaches into container of electric blender. Puree. Add limeade concentrate. Blend well with on/off control. Add ice cubes. Blend until mixture is slushy. Add lemon-lime soda. Stir with long-handled wooden spoon or spatula. Pour into tall glasses. Serve immediately. Serves 6.

I love Pina Coladas, who doesn't?
Here is a great " virgin" one to quench that thirst:

PAPAYA PINA COLADA
1/2 cup fresh lemon juice (juice of 2 to 3 lemons)
1-3/4 cups cold water
5 tablespoons granulated sugar
1 cup chopped fresh pineapple
1/2 ripe papaya, seeded, peeled and coarsely chopped
1/4 cup cream of coconut
Pineapple wedges, for garnish (optional)
In container of electric blender, combine lemon juice, water, sugar, pineapple, papaya and cream of coconut. Blend until smooth. Refrigerate at least 30 minutes. Serve garnished with pineapple wedges, if desired. Makes 5 servings.
