Someone once said -

"There comes a time in your life, when you walk away from all the drama and people who create it. You surround yourself with people who make you laugh. Forget the bad, and focus on the good. Love the people who treat you right and pray for the people who don't. Life is too short to be anything but happy. Falling down is a part of life, getting back up is living." Amen

Halloween Party Fun & Games

I know I'm a site,

me

this gal painted her eyelids and forehead
to match her eye shirt...too funny

this gal is the sunshine gal even her
tennies were yellow
We had our stitching Halloween party last night. What a blast!!! See more here we played several games. One was called "Picking the Pumpkins" where I had written on cut out construction paper pumpkins either "Trick"[with a trick to do] or "Treat" on the backs. Then you got a "Treat" from the bowl in the middle of the table filled with candy. The "Tricks" were silly like, howl like a wolf, hoot like an owl, flap your arms like a bat, cackle like a witch and other silly Halloween things. :)

Then we played "Story Lines" where I had written a sentence like, "The door creaked open and in walked...." then you had to finish it and pass it on to the next person who then had to repeat what they said pick a new card and finish that sentence. :) Of course most of us kept forgetting and the endings were hilarious and we all laughed our heads off. Then we each got to pick a "Witches Brew Treat" out of the big plastic purple pumpkin.

I made a "Witch on the Wall" game. I printed out a witch and tacked it to a poster board, I wrote "666" on the back and had each guest take a push pin with a name tag on it and pick somewhere on the witch to tack it up at the end of the night we took it down and turned over the board and the one that was the closest to the "666" won and got the crochet witch candle I made. :) along with a made up "Stitch n' Chicks" good stitching spell...lol....

Here's some more of the Halloween decorations and prizes I made...

 It is interesting to know that there is no word in the dictionary that is in rhyme with orange.
 People give the credit of starting the tradition of Trick or Treating to Irish people.

 People are of the belief that light keeps the monsters away. Thus they prefer lighting a pumpkin lantern with a candle on the Halloween night.

 It is said that if you hear someone's footsteps behind you on the Halloween night, you should not turn back because it may be a dead following you. And if you commit the mistake of looking back, it is likely that you might join the dead very soon.

The Red Spot [Do not read if you have a weak stomack]

While Lucy slept one night a spider crawled across her face and stopped for several minutes on her right cheek, then it crawled away.

The next morning Lucy woke up and went to the bathroom and looked in the mirror to see a red spot on her right cheek. She thought to herself that she must have been bitten by a bug during the night. She felt it itch and tried not to scratch it.

The next day she looked and the spot had gotten bigger and redder. Now the itch was terrible and she felt a pounding in her cheek. What could have bit her to make it itch so much? She thought. She called her friend to come over. Her friend looked at her cheek and said, oh no worry its just coming to head and then it will break and go away. probably just a spider bite.

The next day it was even bigger and looked like an ugly boil….Lucy felt awful so she called to see her doctor, but her doctor could not see her till Friday. He did tell her it was probably just a spider bite and that once it broke it would go away, just like her friend said.

Lucy decided to take a long hot bath that night before going to bed and as she laid there her cheek started to throb and itch and felt like it was moving around her face. All of a sudden her boil burst open and out poured a swarm of 1000s of baby spiders from the eggs that their mother had laid in her cheek.

Remember to check the walls and ceilings tonight before you go to sleep and to look out for those spider bites you wake up with ladies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yikes!!!!!

Is This Hanged Man Real?

In December of 1976, a Universal Studios camera crew arrived at the Nu-Pike Amusement Park in Long Beach, California, to film an episode of the television action show, the Six Million Dollar Man. In preparing the set in a corner of the funhouse, a worker moved the "hanging man," causing one of this prop's arms to come off. Inside it was human bone. This was no mere prop; this was a dead guy!

The body was that of Elmer McCurdy, a young man who in 1911 had robbed a train of $46 and two jugs of whiskey in Oklahoma. He announced to the posse in pursuit of him that he would not be taken alive and the posse obliged by killing him in a shoot-out.

McCurdy's body became a sideshow attraction right after his embalming. It is claimed that the local undertaker though he had done such a wonderful job at restoring McCurdy that he let the town’s folk see him for a nickel a piece. The nickels were dropped into the corpse's open mouth, later collected by the undertaker.

No one ever showed up to claim McCurdy's body; so, legend has it that undertaker kept him around to collect nickels for a few years after the embalming. Carnival promoters wanted to buy the stiff, but the undertaker turned them down. He didn't want to lose his most steady form of income.

In 1915 two men showed up, claiming that McCurdy was their long lost brother. They took McCurdy away, supposedly to give him a decent burial in the family plot. In actuality, the long lost McCurdy "brothers" were carnival promoters. It was a scam to get the body that they had wanted for years. They exhibited McCurdy throughout Texas under the same title that the undertaker had given him -- "The Bandit Who Wouldn't Give Up."

It seems that McCurdy's body popped up everywhere after that, in places such as an amusement park near Mount Rushmore, lying in an open casket in a Los Angeles wax museum, and in a few low-budget films. Before the Six Million Dollar Man crew discovered this prop to be a corpse, McCurdy had been hanging in a Long Beach funhouse for four years.

In April 1977, the much-traveled Elmer McCurdy was laid to final rest in Summit View Cemetery in Guthrie, Oklahoma. To make sure the corpse would not make its way back to the entertainment world; the state medical examiner ordered two cubic yards of cement poured over the coffin before the grave was closed. McCurdy hasn't been seen hanging around amusement parks since.

Whether all this is true or not, we don't know. Was there ever an amusement park in Long Beach, California called the Nu-Pike Amusement Park? This tale is just one of those that we'll never know the truth of.

Is it True? "Filing officer and Criminalist E. Williams went to the Nu-Pike in company with the Fire Department Personnel. The Laff in the Dark (sic) located at 210-A-A-A West Pike Avenue was entered, and their attention was drawn to the human-like display, which was hanging from a rope. Criminalist E. Williams and filing officer examined the display, (sic) and noted beneath the outer covering there appeared to be bone-type structure having bone-like joints. There was also noted to be a small trace of hair on the back leg. The display remarkably resembled a human cadaver in size and proportion." ???????????????

Halloween Shadow Peopl & Pumpkins $ Crafts & Other Interesting stuff

Shadow People or Shadow Creatures Activity:

This is a type of haunting activity that has no real explanation. They are different from ghosts. They are usually shapeless dark masses. Mostly seen with your peripheral vision. They are known to do things that are different from ghosts. They can move between walls, they have no human features, they wear no clothes (except for the hat man/hooded figure shadow creatures). People who encounter them, have a feeling of dread. Clairvoyants that encounter Shadow People, say they do not feel they are human and consider them non-human.

Shadow People have no discernible mouth, noses or facial expressions. Some are seen as child sized dark humanoids. Some people say they seem to be made up of dark smoke or dark steam. At times when they move, they appear to be moving on an invisible track from one place to another, such as a toy train on a small scale railroad track. They have been seen to hop or what appears to be a strange dance. They are known to stare at the floor.

Two common types of Shadow People are the ‘hat man’, that looks like he or she is wearing a 1930s fedora hat and the ‘hooded figure’, which looks like the shadow person has a hood over their head. The hood and hat stand out as clothing, but otherwise, they are not wearing any clothing at all. There are also reports of shadow animals, such as a shadow in the form of a cat, with no discernible mouth, nose or eyes.

Halloween is never complete without a scary story and Stephen King is the KING [no pun intended] I just love his books.

I am not a big fan of beer or ale, but I do like once in awhile especial ICE cold and I remember my dad used to love his with a big dish of spagetti and served in a frosted mug...mmmmm good! Since I am a native "Great Lakes" resident, this ale intrigued me and I was really pleased to try it.

To tell you the truth even the worst pumpkin ales have this spicy flavor that brings all the feelings of autumn to mind, and makes one think about changing leaves and crisp nights;

Imagine finding this Great Lakes Brewery‘s pumpkin ale, which definitely comes in a big bottle and is among the best examples of its type. Like their "Winter Ale," the pumpkin brew doesn’t exactly feature light flavors, nope, everything about this Great Lakes’ ale is bold, strong and big on your palette.

And to a pleasent surprise it even pours out slightly orange, which is a marvelous touch. With fall here and Halloween just around the corner, you owe it to yourself to try one of these ales.

And for a Halloween poem......

The Old Graveyard
By: Kurtis Primm

There is an old graveyard
I always walk by
Where others before me
Have died and now lie.

And when I walk by it
It gives me the creeps
To know that one day
It’s there that I’ll sleep.

Sometimes I see shadows
And I often hear sounds
Could it be coming from those
Buried deep underground?

I walked past one evening
It was quite late at night
I could see them there standing
A trick of the light?

I saw one approach
With it’s pale outstretched hand
And it beckoned to join it
So I turned and I ran.

Now I’ll never walk past
That old graveyard again
Cause I’m scared
I may never be heard from again.

The old graveyard’s still there
And I know in my mind
That the dead are there waiting
Just biding their time.

So if you walk past
And you hear the wind moan
It may not be the wind
But them calling you home.

I just love Halloween and had to share some Halloween fun and stuff just because....hope you enjoyed...

This an easy fun craft project to make for any house. I really liked this idea and Walmart sells mason jars very cheap... :)

Supplies needed for this:
-Painters tape

-Jars
-Paint/Paint brushes

-lay down wax paper or freezer paper or butcher paper... any kind of paper to limit the mess.
Just make sure they don't paint the inside. You may want to add tape to the opening of the jar to avoid that.
You can add stickers too. Then turn them upside down, to make sure no paint gets inside,

next spray paint them.
One white and one black.
wait for them to dry
remove the stickers.
add candles to the inside.
