Someone once said -

"There comes a time in your life, when you walk away from all the drama and people who create it. You surround yourself with people who make you laugh. Forget the bad, and focus on the good. Love the people who treat you right and pray for the people who don't. Life is too short to be anything but happy. Falling down is a part of life, getting back up is living." Amen

Today is the day my good friend and I always get together for a scone and hot tea at 9 am and chat for awhile at a nearby bakery/deli. Today was no different, except she had no vehicle so I had to stop by and pick her up.

So we started to chat and chat and chat and chat and before we knew it the time flew by and it was 11:40 am??? Wow.....

then we decided to go to the gym next door for our usual short 30 minute work out and I did the treadmill and she picked out a few weights....then we chatted a little more and she said well now its time for lunch....lol......so next to the gym is a

Subway and we hopped over there and had a turkey sub sandwich...well at least it was calorie smart....lol....

This weekly get together has become a really good stress reducer and "hump" day ritual. Thank God for good friends....

Picnic Party

Over at Bugaboo Mini Mr and Me she is having a "Picnic Party"
I am going to post about some fun games and things to do on picnics....

When I take a picnic I love to play cards...its an easy game to play that takes very little room and can be played on the blanket, picnic table, or even in your lap on a paper plate. With kids you can play fish, with adults Solitare or rummy, or even war.....play for straws and the winner gets to have an extra treat that I always bring. Sometimes I add a little toy in my basket or a small gift I picked up at the $1 store for the winners...

I also love to play "Name the Birds" its a little game I made up where you listen to the birds and look for them, I bring binockulars, and try and name them or tell a little story about where you think they might of comke from or might be be going. Then again a special treat. Sometimes I tell a cute story about the birds and their familes. I can make up stories easily so it is not hard for me, if you cannot do that, then Google one before you leave on your picnic and take it with you to tell to the kiddies.

Now for an adult picnic how about a quick game of Left, Center Right. If you have never played this one you need to. It is simple, quick, fun, and small to carry. Just requires 3 of something. Can be anything??? Money, fruit, jelly beans, cookies, twinkies, anything, but plan ahead and bring some extra for everyone, remmeber the winner gets it all. :)

There are a lot of traditional games, I happen to like to make some up. I also love Truth or Dare and make a list of questions to ask and Dares to do ahead of time...lots of laughs... :)

Of course you can bring your crocheting and crochet another picnic blanket too!!

The point is to keep entertained and have fun in an outside setting with the kids, family, friends, or your honey, no matter who you go with think fun!!!!

Blog Commenting Problems!!!

Hello, Apparently some problems on "Blogger" are still happening when trying to comment on some blogs, not all just some. If you go to comment on a blog and it takes you to your sign in page be sure that the check box "remember me" is UNchecked. According to blogger this should stop the problem of bouncing back and forth and then allow you to comment.

If anyone else has had these issues and it works for you let me know....I have been having these problems and this seems like such a simple solution. :)

Thank you Chatty for helping me out by posting...

"Etsy Spotlights!!!" A new Monthly Post

I've decided to add a special monthly post called "Etsy Spotlights"

                                  What is it you ask?

Well it is a "spotlight" of one Esty shop a month that is creative, immaginative, and has some interesting and unique "eye candy" for you to browse around and buy. Some people that do not have an Etsy shop but have a crafting URL where you sell your "handicrafts" are welcome too!!

So in order for me to get to know you and "spotlight" you, be sure to comment here and send me an email telling me a little about your shop, what's unique about your crafts, how you got started, what inspires you, and anything else you feel will attract buyers to your store.

Each month I will post about 1 store and keep a link to you on my sidebar for my visitors to hop over to your place. And be sure to let me know if you will be offering any "specials" if they mention they found you at "Etsy Spotlights".

I also want to hear back from you if you received any more traffic because of your "spotlight" appearence on PBDesigns. :)

Looking forward to meeting all you Etsy sellers!!! July 1st will be my first post so leave your comments today and be sure to "follow" PBDesigns.

Hello I went to the gym today and instead of being bored while on the treadmill I listed to an audio book...it is a great way to pass the time...check out some options as I wrote an article about it

And while hopping around the blogs I visit I found this fantastic way to add some new fashion to my summer wardrobe and all I need is one of DH shirts.. :) so easy to do...just snip and sew and then a new top is born!!! Smashworks has a great tutorial on it.

Ok who would of thought??? A Hexnut Bracelet??? There are 3 versions here. The one above by sliding the hex nuts onto the fabric and just tying it to close around your wrist, or one with twine and braiding or one crochet!
Over at C.R.A.F.T. blog she made one with rope and braiding and hex nuts. I am changing it to Chain stitching instead with my colored twine I got at ACE Hardware Store. You can choose either way:

You will need:

  • colored twine or rope
  • hex nuts [again at the hardware store]
  • some type of pliers to hold the twine with
  • or a size H crochet hook if you are crocheting it

First I will show you the tutorial that
C.R.A.F.T. s blog did ....then I will step you through my version.

The twine ball will be your clasp... don't be scared to add another string if you don't like the shape of your yarn ball!

You can use the vice grips to weight the string down...
This part can be frustrating....the braid will want to flip around a little and this will mess up your flow! All you are doing is a simple braid adding a hex nut after each strand is crossed...use your fingers to manipulate the hex nuts!

Make a braid long enough to wrap around your wrist 3 times...
Make sure loop is a good size for your twine ball to fit through... not too small, not too big...just right, you know like Little Red Riding Hood :)

You can make silver or mixed silver and gold...or all gold?  Which one do you like best?

Now if you are crocheting  you will need:
  1. Crochet Thread # 3
  2. a button
  3. Crochet hook H
Crochet a 3 strands of Crochet Thread #3,or nylon thread any color you want, knot it and then add the washers in the same manner with a braid, then knot it and crochet a chain st the rainder, then finish off. make a loop the size of your button and secure it with several stitchs wrapped around both thicknesses. weave in ends. Sew your button on the other end.
