Someone once said -

"There comes a time in your life, when you walk away from all the drama and people who create it. You surround yourself with people who make you laugh. Forget the bad, and focus on the good. Love the people who treat you right and pray for the people who don't. Life is too short to be anything but happy. Falling down is a part of life, getting back up is living." Amen

Chicken Soup and Yarn Talk

Hi there....I found a site that sells these really cool yarn holders for only $20.00....And since I have a left over wooden paper towel holder I am thinking of making one for myself, but be sure to check out the ones over at Behind Bllue Eyes...

Now I just made the most delicious Chicken Noodle soup from a recipe over at Kathy's Cottage ....yummy she explains how to make it and it is so easy, really it is and with this cold weather everywhere it is perfect for any home, and she also claims it is the best to keep away those flus and colds...try it...

I just got th enew "Crochet World" magazine and it has a truck load of fun patterns in it that I want to try... :) now to find the time. hmmm...

How cute is this egg craft...It is featured over at About.com but just looking at it I can figure it out. Just cut out the feet using craft foam and the ears too, but with ears use 2 colors and make one smaller than the other one, use 2 pink puff balls for the cheeks, glue on to egg and use wiggle eys and place as shown, and then pipe cleaner for the whiskers, oh don;t forget the mouth with some foam to. I am going to use a plastic egg so it will be around every year. :) Be sure and check out About.com for some more wonderful crafts.. :) Now I am thinking of making sheep eggs for my upcoming Spring Fing party... the ones over at Familyfun.com are too cute..

Now the 2 You Tubes are fun chickens to crochet!!! Enjoy

Part Two.... check out her website too... http://prettymodern.typepad.com

Bunko and Friends

bun·co also bun·ko (bung' ko)
1. A swindle in which an unsuspecting person is cheated; a confidence game.

Last night I went ot my Red Hats Bunko it was a blast. I love playing that crazy game. The gal that hosted the party made some excellent food. Ham, sweet potato bake, and green whipped dessert that was yummy!!!!! I didn't win, came close to it though...I brought a friend with me who had never played and she loved it. Bunko can be addicting...

Today I went out and found some great ideas for the upcoming "Ugly Sweater" Spring party for my knit group.

OWOH Give- Away "Magical Blog Ride"

Welcome to the OWOH 2010 Magical Blog Ride it is a wonderful idea created by
"A Whimsical Bohemian" blog.  I'm very excited to be a part of this event!
OWOH began as a way to connect bloggers around the world whose paths might not otherwise cross. According to our OWOH creator and host Lisa Swifka, this event "transcends geographical location,      socio economics, political affiliation, and religious beliefs." The event has grown by leaps and bounds since its inception in 2007. Last year, bloggers from 28 countries participated in the event!

One of the things that makes this event so special is that each participant offers visitors a chance to win a gift that they have chosen from their heart. After much thought, I decided to offer my visitors the opportunity to win a beautiful pair of my "Heart Earrings" from my PBD collection.

All you have to do is leave a comment and become a follower of this blog. And be sure to include your name and a way to contact you- either through your blog, email, or both!
Leave your comments by
 February 14th, 12 midnight PST.
One entry per person please! I will announce the winner on Sunday, February 15th, 2010...

Be sure to leave your comments! :)
I wanted to tell a little story on hearts where it all started and how it became a symbol of love. So I finally got my answer here and wanted to share it with you!!

The evocative two-lobed heart shape was used by early hunters living in Europe before the last ice age, and it is believed to have symbolized the vital organ that sustains life by pumping blood through and around a living organism.

In the Middle Ages, the heart sign was associated with signs for union, togetherness, fire, and flight. More recently, in Sweden, the symbol was used to denote a coed toilet. On an ancient Greek amphora, hearts represented leaves on Dionysus' wreath, although later, the heart's association with Eros, god of sexual love, and Cupid, his Roman counterpart, prevailed. Apparently Aztecs, Hindus, Buddhists, Muslims, Jews, Celts, and Taoists all use this fortuitous symbol.

When searched further the findings from a site Thinkquest called The Interactive Heart explores the cultural significance of the heart in ancient civilizations and contemporary culture -- and describes the long-standing perception of the heart as the seat of human emotion.

Here's a poem, submitted by Ruth Porter:

Poems from the heart,
may be pretty smart,
but all this lovey-dovey,
makes me fairly tart.

For me I just like the shape ad color of the heart and link it to love, giving, and friendships....  :)

I look forward to meeting new friends
and I hope you enjoy my blog!

Be sure to leave your comments! :)

Happy Magical Blog Riding!

Some Fun Valentine Crafts for Any Age

I was upstairs sorting out more patterns in my craft room and looked around the rooms and thought I would share...The picture here is my favorite reading and writing spot in my house. The light is bright and the chair is really comforable and I like the "shabby chic" appeal. :)

The secretary desk is what I inherited from my mom. It is so pretty and unique and something I will cherish. It has a pull down desk area for writing with little slots for envelopes and other items. :)

I like this quaint little china tea coaster set, it goes well with my pink hurricane lamp, :) The colors are pastel and they match with the wicker...
The pink lace hat wall hanging I got at an estate sale a few years ago and it fits well with the decor
Another favorite is a shabby chic wall hanging I found awhile back that is so pretty. I know it looks a little messy but this area is where I hung my plate collection and have a lot of my fat 1/4s and as you can see where my patterns are being sorted...sorry for the messiness...Another estate sale find is this Home Sweet Home heart hanging. I hung it bedie my music box collection that is in my built in curio cabinet. :)

And a pink crocheted hat I made last year. It is really comfortable...
i was surfing for Valentine crafts and ran across a few really great ones....I love easy crafts to whip up and my favorites are paper plate crafts, sock crafts, and over at PS they had the cutest foxy  pocketbook favor box  craft it is adorable and not too difficult, One of my favorite for any holiday is of course the very simple paper chain...this one is for Valentine's Day and stamped with heart designs. Its easy and all kids young and old have fun making them. :) then I saw this cute Valentine Garland that was made over at One Hour Craft that is so easy to do. She has a tutorial for it that is easy to follow and sew up in no time. They are so pretty. Lastly I thought I would post a little video on a Valentine Puffy. Enjoy!

Weekend Fun and Things You could Do??

Its Saturday, as my sis and I refer to "work and play day" we have a line for each day of the week...I like Saturdays because I can choose to work or play, at he moment I am working at catching up on email, believe me that is work, and also my blogs...that is definitely a timely matter..Here are some ideas you can work or play with today:

  1. Get out and take a brisk walk ....its great for your health especially your heart
  2. make a new craft...I love this place for finding fun things to do
  3. take out one of your hobbies, knitting, crocheting, quilting, sewing, scrapbooking, anything you love to do and work on it, but limit your time so that it doesn't consume your entire day, that way you have fun and yet have time for doing other things during the day
  4. clean out one of those closets that are haunting you...I have several. :(
  5. mop the floor then go to lunch with a friend or two, maybe go to a restuarant you have been longing to go to its a great time to catch up on all the gossip
  6. get out the bike and wipe off the cobwebs and take a little ride around the neighborhood, that of course is for the people that live in torerable weather states, for others that do not, maybe you could build a snowman and enjoy your talents with decorating him in all the right trimmings. :)
  7. bake some chocolate chip cookies and curl up with a warm lapghan in front of your fireplace or stick in one of those fireplace cds and read a good book that you have been putting off because of not enough time
  8. reorganize your kitchen cupboards adding some great new shelf liner paper
  9. replant and fertilize those inside plants that are looking a little droopy
  10. grab a friend or sister and go to your local home improvement store and check out the new lawn furniture and bar b ques for upcoming springtime, maybe even some great plants and get a new inside one for one of those bright windows it is never too early to start planning for the spring or get a new hanger [do people still hang plants?] and add a new one to one of those empty corners and enjoy the benefits plants give to us. Did you know that plants purify the air, they are not only pleasing to look at but they help us breathe too!
I hope this has helped everyone for your Saturday...me I am going to mop up the kitchen and heading off to lunch with a friend....bon appitte.... :)

My son went up to our cabin and he got snowed in for 3 days....5' of snow fell...everytime he shoveled it up it came down and covered it more.. It is hard to tell but where my g-son is in our yard is 5' on one end of the yard and it goes all the way across to the other end.
