We went and looked at the lights!

Naples was beautiful last night. 4 of us from my knitting/crochet group went and walked around Naples and looked at all the pretty decorations. Pat and I wore our Santa caps....my camera's date is stuck so it says 2005 still.. :(

Every year they decorate the houses and people can walk or take boat rides through the channels to see all the lights. it was the 1st day of the week with no rain...we wore our heavy coats since we were on the water front and it was perfect..there were a lot of folks out and lots of cheer...ever the gondolas were out...one came up the channel and serenaded us with a beautiful song...then the girls adn I went for hot tea and pie....yum yum....

Giant Crocheted Pencil

Wow here is a giant crocheted pencil...it was erected December 13th.....too much.....D&AD will unleash the giant pencil -- like the one in November that was erected in Trafalgar Square ---- but in reality it will be a 10,000 gallon water tower sheathed in a huge crocheted pencil suit -- on Manhattan to publicize the call for entries to the D&AD Awards 2009. The project has been conceived by artist Robyn Love and executed by a dedicated team of crocheters; the pencil theme reflects the coveted Yellow Pencil and Black Pencil trophies that the D&AD awards to the finest creative and advertising projects of the year. 32 miles of Lion Brand Yarn used to make a giant crocheted cozy for a 10,000 gallon water tank. It will have the appearance of a giant pencil tip standing 16 feet high with a 41 foot circumference, made entirely with Lion Brand yarn.

Christmas Party

We went to our annual PCC Christmas party last night. It was a lot of fun and laughs. We got all dressed up and had great munchies and got to visit with good friends at our car club....It is always fun to get dressed up for a formal type affair...but my tootsies were tired by 11pm....:(

I've Joined the Greatful Gals

I have joined in the "Greatful Gals" blogging. Being greatful for life itself and finding happiness and peacefulness with my life and enjoying what I have....viewing my life with happiness and being grateful for what I do have!!!

I am grateful for many things in life, but I am most grateful to have a loving and caring hubby who still thinks that I am beautiful and the center of his universe, even though I am middle age, a little heavier than when we 1st met, and a few more wrinkles. thank you.....

I am also thankful for my family and my friends and also my ONLINE friends.... :)

Some Gifts Received

this was made for me from one of my swap partners..however there was no return address or name or note in the package. I am sad as I want to thank the person who made it. It is beautiful and since I am a bird lover, I feed the entire neighborhood in my yard, it is even extra special it came with another cute hotpad and some beautiful beads too....The turkey post card below is so adorable and was made for me by one of my friends, Vicki, in a group where we exchange post cards with each other.... :) Unfortuately the post office stamped it and the from has some white "yuck" on it..but I still love it...She did an excellent job...Then Brenda sent me both for November and Christmas....WOW....

Look at What I'm Gonna Make Now!

I am going to start some new projects and one of them is like the one I made an online friend awhile back. It is the Little Mermaid tote bag and I am also going to make one themed Nemo....

Do you remember the "sock" monkeys? Well I found the cutest pattern for one themed, "Shop till you Drop!" it is so cute...I have the socks and now to start cutting....
I have been searching for this material...I just loved it when Marylyn sent it with the kit to make the knitting needle bag. I would love to find more of this????


And anyone who knows me well knows I love PINK...so I even added it to my hair.. :) not really it is just a hair extension...but I liked it..

I am also making more button pins and jewelry designs...this was one fun one I made for my sister because she loves cats...

This bag I designed has been a big hit and so I am now making more in different colors...

Vintage Thursday

These two cookbooks remind me of when I was first learning to cook. I would get out my new Betty Crochker cookbook and pick a new recipe from it to try. Sometimes they were even good. I learned how to measure, bake, fry, and roast....it was quite an accomplishment for a very young new wife. The cookbook is from the late 60s and the other my mom gave me it is one from 1958 that she had and I liked being able to cook for 2 ...I remember how my kitchen would have flour everywhere and how hard I tried to make everything from scratch. We didn't have any microwaves at that time. How did I ever survive... LOL I know that the cookbooks ar outdated and falling apart, but I can not part with them as they hold some fond memories for me and some silly ones too.....

The Chicken Dance Contest with Velveeta Cheese and the Apron Queen

Ok I have not lost my rocker...nooo I am doing the "Chicken Dance" for the contest over on "Confession's of an Apron Queen's" blog for the Velveeta Cheese challenge... so be sure and pop over there and vote for her....I made her recipe for the "Ay Caramba Chicken Spaghetti" which is really yummy, I didn't add the chiles and hanged it to regular velveeta as I am not into spicy and it was really good.....matter fact it was so good that my family, my DH and I, had to do the the dance after we ate it...

And she is having this challenge which includes a contest for her wonderful aprons...I am in my apron here which is my "spooky" apron for Halloween....now don't you think my DH deserves a reward for his dance???? lol.....
