Someone once said -

"There comes a time in your life, when you walk away from all the drama and people who create it. You surround yourself with people who make you laugh. Forget the bad, and focus on the good. Love the people who treat you right and pray for the people who don't. Life is too short to be anything but happy. Falling down is a part of life, getting back up is living." Amen

"E" is for Eight

"E" is for eight. I am not one to get into Numerology, but this stuff gets me..They say the number "8" means: Executive ability, management, power, materiality, unscrupulousness...hmmmmm But I know you can do your own numerology but my numbers with the number "8" in all my family's birthdays is just too much...I mean I look at my family's birthdays and it gets a little scary..ok..

  • Dh birthday is on the 4th and so is mine..add and it = 8
  • my duaghter's birthday is on the 18
  • my son's birthday is on the 28th
  • my younger son's birthday is on the 8th
  • my grandson was born in the 8th month
  • my older granddaughter's birthday is the 28th
  • my younger granddaughter's birthday is the 8th

Ok so do you think the number "8" is a lucky number for me??? Or does it all mean something? I don't know for sure but I am going to play the lotto and guess what number I am going to use??? Yup the number "8"!!!!

Pay it Forward Exchange

I am posting this pay it forward contest from my other blog here. . I saw it on Twisted Knitster's blog and the Knitty Girl's blog. so be sure to go check it out there!!!!

It’s based on the movie with Helen Hunt and Kevin Spacey in it called ‘Pay It Forward’.Here’s how it goes:I promise I will send a handmade gift to 3 random people who leave a comment on my blog requesting to join this "Pay It Forward" exchange. This isn’t a huge gift, just a little something to lift your spirits that I have made. I don’t know what that gift will be yet and you may not receive it tomorrow or next week, but you will receive it within 365 days,[probably a lot sooner] that is my promise! The only thing you have to do in return is "pay it forward" by making the same promise on your blog to send to 3 other people. That's it! So do comment here and see if your one of the lucky 3 and then put the same on your blog and let's see how far this really goes....???

"D" is For

"D" is for dog. My dog Foxy is the cutest little Long Haired Chihuahua..She is red haired and about 10lbs. She is not the tiny little ones she is more of the older type that were a little huskier. I am glad as I don't like the tiny ones as they are way too fragil, anyways she just loves attention and other dogs. She barks up a storm but all she does when she gets up to them is play with them and run around. She also likes to ride in our car as long as she can be on pillows so she can be seen. She is 3 1/2 years old and we got her from the rescue. She also likes to wear her hat from our vacation. We just love her to pieces and oh yeah her an Miz Allie do not laways see eye to eye, but then cats and dogs never really do...

"C" is for Cat

"C" is for Cat. Miz Allie Cat is my favorite kitty. She is our 16 year old calico cat that thinks she owns the house and me. This is one of her favorite positions while cleaning herself. She has extremely long legs and tail and sometimes lays flat with her legs stretched and crossed, just like a lady! She loves to sit on my lap and have my yarn drape over her head. She also likes to wear items like wigs...she meows at the sound of her name and only talks when I talk to her. She totally ignores my DH whenever he speks to her and walks with her tail in the air by him as if he does not exist. She is quite a character and very pretty. She was born in my closet from a momma cat my aughter had brought home 16 years ago in 1991 when we lived in Norco. The momma was a tortoiseshell-calico cat and had 6 babies. I was not going to keep Allie but she turned to get so attached to me that it was evident she was to be with me always. She is not a cat you can just pick-up she is definitly one that decides when and where she wants to be pettted or held. Allie is my baby and she knows it too.

I'm Back from Vacation

Hello Hello... I am back...wowowowow...2 weeks of glorious R&R lots of crocheting and reading and writing...I loved it... We are getting ready for our pond to be built here this Sat. The guy tried to deliver the Port a Potty today??? it wasn't suppose to be here till Friday... a bit early and the trailer is still out front... so what to do??? I sent him on his way to return later today.. Now hubby says he is in the middle of a job and cannot return till much later...so I guess it will have to go at the edge of the driveway on the otherside...hope my neighbor doesn't mind... :( But I cannot wait till it starts up.. I am sooo excited...

But On to the vacation...WEllll we went to Bass Lake and it was soo pretty there in the high 90s and water was warm. John brought up his boat so we got to enjoy the lake and cruise all around. Lori couldn't make it this year and we really missed her...We had a nice visit with John and his family and Darin got up on the wakeboard. I was amazed at how well he could ski. He is only 10 years old and sure as heck out does me. Of course I have nver skiied...not my thing. Do love to watch others do it though...Hubby took me shopping and I got 3 great dresses...Thank you!!! One long sleeveless beach print navy, 2 orange print hawaiian style ones and more souvenirs.. :) Then we went off to Pismo Beach and I shopped again adn got a tote bag and sweatshirt zip-up in peach to match...then we rented a little bicycle built for two with the surr on top ...I have to add a picture when I get on my computer..They are all there... We even got Foxy to ride in it.. she was such a good girl this trip..we have finally taught her to settle down a litle and not go bannanas over other dogs that walk by..watching the TV show the "Dog Whisperer" has helped a lot. its a great show to help you learn how to train your dog.. It was a little cooler at Pismo as we were camped right on the ocean, but I loved it. Also took a day trip to Morro Bay.. Always a favorite of mine.. :) But glad to be back..
oh yeah I found a terrific Christmas organize place to help us all get ready.. Its never too early...And heres a cool "Knit Along" blog that you might like to join too!!

"C" is for Crochet!!

"C" is for Crochet!!!

Of course "C" would be for crochet for me as I am a "Crochetoholic"! But to further that, I have been crocheting for over 30 years. I started when I was about 9 years old when my mom, who was an excellent stitcher, taught me. She was always into crafts of all kinds and I admired her for her talents. I am glad to have taken after her and I have even taken it a step further with my desires to write patterns and design purses. Crocheting for me is a stress buster and a way to relieve my inner talents. I love to sit out back in my yarn listening to the birds adn water sounds while creating a new designed purse or making an project. It is peaceful and fulfulling and best of all I get to share my projects at "Show n' Tell" with my local group Stitch n Chicks that I formed a little over a year ago. There are 13 members now and we have so much fun with our chatting, munching, and discussing our projects. LEarning from each other has made a big pkus in our lives as well as making the new friends we would never have met had it not been for the club. I think crochet brings people together and making projects to share, swapping, learning from each other or just chatting online all has benefits for our souls. This Sept. I am proud to say I will be attending my first CGOA conference in Oakland with Priscilla, from my group, and I am so excited. So as alway I am off to crochet some more and making sure I have enough yarn for my vacation I leave on tomorrow. I love crochet!!!!

B is for Bass Lake

"B" is for Bass Lake
where my family goes every year. We are going on Thursday....We will be camping there for 6 days and then going to Pismo Beach till Sat the 18th. Bass Lake is a family tradition for my family. We have been going there since the early 1980s. My son learned to ski there for the first time, my daughter got into an accident there and had to be rushed to the ER, [she is ok now] and my daughter and I even made a trip there one year, just her and I. One year I went there by myself with my dog and then my girlfrined came up and joined me. When we first started camping there it was in a tent, and we had to bring an ice chest to keep our food cold, and go to the store every day or two times a day to restock. we stayed on the dry camp ground side with no hook ups and only a sproket for water every 2 camp sites. We also had to use the public showers that were $.25 for 5 minutes. [now they are $2.50] And we also had to use a lantern to see. Now we have an 25' trailer and camp on the other side of the lake in a Resort RV campground with full hook ups and even watch TV by satellite!! Times have changed over the years
All the years we have gone have been treasured memories and now that the kids are on their own, we have made it a vacation campout that we get together one time a year in August. It is fun to look back at the pictures of us and the fun things we have done there. I think that every family needs an annual place to get together and go to and build happy memories and a family tradition to pass on down the line. Bass Lake is ours, What is yours?

Encyclopedia of an Ordinary Life

Okay, somewhere amidst these huge "yarn balls" area a map of my ordinary life. And here's the meme that I saw on Beth's blog that came from Bella Dia! I noticed that Beth saw it on Autumn's blog and Michelle's blog too, I will be checking out their "life encyclopedia" along with Beths!
I really enjoy learning about others and their lifestyles and what they do. I thought if I enjoy it then maybe others would like to learn about me too!
Now.. I am going on vacation the 9th through the 18th so I will stop then and then come back and start again. Starting today, August 5th, I'm going to make a post each day of the month beginning with "A is for..." and on the 26th day, "Z is for..." My posts will be different random topics that somehow relate to my life and at the end I should have something similar to Amy Rosenthal's Encyclopedia of an Ordinary Life.
If you go to the link for Encyclopedia of an Ordinary Life you'll see some examples from the book and it will probably make more sense than me trying to reexplain what Bella Dia said on her blog. So please join me along with the others and chat about the posts and ;eave your comments! Be sure to post to Bella first and let her know if your going to join in.

"A is for Aquascape"

About our yard:
My DH and I just signed on the dotted line last week with Tray to put in an "Urban Oasis" pond in our yard and change the whole "Atmosphere" of the yard into a total "Aquascape" scene. There will be a pond made with lots and lots of plants, rocks, and Koi fish that will be totally sustained by itself with its own ecosystem of life. DH will then extend our patio to include a slated cover, a decking area with a "Hawaiian" style roof, thatched, and many tall Queen palm trees and other tropical plants like blood leaf and other tropical wonders. We will add a walkway with an area to extend over the pond for feeding the fish and another part for just a bench area so we can sit and enjoy.
The idea is to make it a tropical paradise and then continue the yard are with sod and more distictive plants under the Brazilian tree in the corner where my swing is hung.
Listening to the water falls and watching the fish and hearing the breeze blow through the palms will make the perfect area for me to not only crochet my heart away, but also to write my pen pal friends. I do so love the sound of water running and have always lived near the water my whole life. Even though we are only 1 mile from the beach I think that this area in our yard will add a special place for me to relax. Since working part-time I have so much enjoyed pursuing my hobbies and having friends and family over, and I think redoing our yard will be a great conversational place for all our visitors.

The Qualifier 105

Here is where my DH would love to be most of the time. And it is wht we stayed at the hotel across from the water in Feb. in San Diego. It is a huge boat over 105' long and is great for long haul over night fishing. But it is just a boat! Right??? I mean its not a diamond bracelet, or a room full of yarn!!!! Now that would be a find!!! MEN.....

Interesting facts

I found these while looking for food facts for my Recipe of the Month blog and found some of these quite interesting and thought I would share a few:

  1. 1. The US national anthem actually has three verses, but everyone just knows the first one. I can attest to that
  2. 2. The total combined weight of the worlds ant population is heavier than the weight of the human population. So does that mean I don't have to diet?
  3. No piece of paper can be folded more than 7 times. And I neede to know that why???
  4. Walt Disney was afraid of mice. What a weenie!!! LOL
  5. The inventor of the flushing toilet was Thomas Crapper. Hmmm..so that's where that word came from???
  6. The number of people alive on earth right now is higher than the number of all the people that have died. Ever. Wow that means we are getting bigger???
  7. The average American consumes 1.2 pounds of spider eggs a year and eat 2.5 pounds of insect parts a year. Oh my ...my son would freak on this one as he hates spiders!!!!
  8. Men can breastfeed babies! ok all you men out there step up to the plate and help...RIGHT!!!
  9. Washington State has the longest single beach in the United States Long Beach, WA..WOW that is weird considering that it rains so much there you probably never get to the beach!!! LOL
  10. The largest living thing on the face of the Earth is a mushroom underground in Oregon, it measures three and a half miles in diameter. Now what kind of mushroom that is the question??? Do you think everyone there will start digging?
  11. The Population of the world can live within the state boundaries of Texas. So does that mean that no one wants to live in Texas now? I mean to have that much room for everyone else????
  12. 83% of people hit by lightning are men. So ladies what does that tell us????
  13. Alfred Hitchcock had no belly button for it was eliminated during surgery. I loved his movies, anyone else watch him?
  14. New Jersey has a spoon museum with over 5,400 spoons from almost all the states. Ok who is joining me to fly there to see this place????
  15. "Jaws" is the most common name for a goldfish. Uh Oh...we better watch out for those goldfish people!!!
  16. A cat has 32 muscles in each ear. And how many do we have??? The cat's have it!!
  17. Napoleon was terrified of cats. If only they knew...
  18. The state of California raises the most turkeys out of all of the states. Ok now I live here , but I was born in NY, so I can honestly say that I am NO Turkey!!!!!
  19. Dry fish food can make goldfish constipated. I really didn't need to know that..
  20. The reason firehouses have circular stairways is from the days of yore when the engines were pulled by horses. The horses were stabled on the ground floor and figured out how to walk up straight staircases. So the problem was what???? Did the horses fall down the stairs????
  21. More Americans have died in automobile accidents than have died in all the wars ever fought by the United States. I guess that has meaning??? It does prove that the protesters need to reavaluate, maybe....???
  22. A duck''s quack doesn''t echo, and no one knows why. Very interesting, but stupid!!!
  23. If a statue in the park of a person on a horse has both front legs in the air, the person died in battle; if the horse has one leg front leg in the air, the person died as a result of wounds received in battle; if the horse has all 4 legs on the ground, the person died of natural causes. Ok now everyone run to the park and chek out those statues..
  24. Titanic was running at 22 knots when she hit the iceberg. Wow she was cooking!!
  25. Mosquito repellents don''t repel. They hide you. The spray blocks the mosquito''s sensors so they don''t know your there . Ok and when they land on you where do they think they are????
  26. At - 40 degrees Centigrade a person loses about 14.4 calories per hour by breathing. so there is my perfect diet I'm moving to Alaska people!!!!
  27. The X''s that people sometimes put at the end of letters or notes to mean a kiss, actually started back in the 1000''s when Lords would sign their names at the end of documents to other important people. It was originally a cross that they would kiss after signing to signify that they were faithful to God and their King. Over the years though, it slanted into the X. I like that fact !!
  28. There are only 12 letters in the Hawaiian alphabet. Ok this one I actually knew after visiting Maui for 8 days in 05'. Its, M,N,A,P,
  29. In the 40''s, the Bich pen was changed to Bic for fear that Americans would pronounce it ''Bitch.'' I can understand the confusion it might cause????
  30. The average person will spend two weeks over their lifetime waiting for the traffic light to change. So we drive much too much scary huh???
